Localization, the cheapskate way

Postby beautifulalgorithms » Wed Jan 22, 2014 1:28 am

I did discuss this briefly with Damon last summer but was too busy to get this completed then. I just wanted to know if there still is interest in this article suggestion. My article, quite simply is "The cheapskate's guide to localization" and in it I outline how to put in localization in your programs in a way that satisfies the current requirements:

1 Language files that can be created with any text editor
2 Unlimited number of languages is supported
3 New languages can be added without any additional code (and progam need not know which language files are present even)
4 Easy switching between languages when application is running
5 Forms to immediately (if necessary) be re-translated when new language is set

To sound like a used car salesman, no expensive component purchase necessary! All at the cost of a data module and minimal lines of code too.

Of course. Internationalizing UIs for multiple languages is still important.
