Is it possible to download the contents of this entire forum to the local computer?

I believe that has been asked before. I don't believe it is possible. Also, some information is dated and may not apply to current compilers.

Correct. Unless you install a local copy of phpBB onto your PC, then maybe an export of the phpBB database could be made and copied over. But that is something the forum admin would have to provide. There is no option to export forum messages to a downloadable format.
