Is there a good book on C++ builder XE3 or XE2 ?

Post by ser_d »

Hi,

I have the 1000+ pages "C++ Builder 5 developer's Guide" here on my desk.
Now that I finally upgraded (from builder 5 to XE3 / XE2 !), I started looking for a similar recent
good book on C++ builder XE3.

Sadly, couldn't find any on amazon...
I ordered 'delphi XE2 foundations' from amazon, this morning, as the closest match...
So where do you get your information ? The help files isn't that great for learning, in my opinion.
Do you know any good book on C++ builder XE3 (or XE2) ?

tnx

Excellent question. Most of the books and even white papers I've seen seem to be geared toward Delphi. That's one of the reasons I like the Developer's Journal. It's geared toward us C++ maniacs.

As fast as codegear puts out new versions i doubt anyone will attempt to write a book
that will be outdated before it even gets to print.

As we are (me and people I work with) more and more frustrated while working with C++ projects 250 000+ LOC in VS2010 sp1 (the slowness of this IDE is just unbelievable), in my company we were talking about migrating our code to some different IDE. We did some research, and a strong candidate seems to be Embarcadero C++ builder 2011 XE. Any thoughts on it? Is it any good? How does it compares to VS2010 ultimate?

C++Builder XE is out of date.
